Reading comprehension is an important concept that relates to all subject areas. When scholars comprehend what they are reading, they are able to respond to text dependent questions
- Reading comprehension and phonemic awareness is our focus
- Phonemic awareness is the ability to recognize sounds in words
- These two skills must occur simultaneously in order for scholars to excel in reading
Writing
Grades 1 to 6
Words are POWERFUL! With the proper composition of words, a scholar will be able to convey their thoughts and feelings appropriately. We focus on developing essay writing skills during our sessions.
- Practicing grammar helps to improve writing skills

- Proper punctuation use is necessary when learning to write at all age levels
Math
Grades 1 to 6
Money, Time, Geometry, Oh My! Most math strategies can be used for most, if not all, math concepts. We relate real-world situations to math lessons to express the importance of learning math.
- Math strategies are introduced so students can use what works for them
- Practicing these strategies daily will help to reinforce the math concepts
- Always show all of your mathematical thinking when answering questions
Coding
Grades 1 to 6
We connect coding to different math skills to make the lessons interesting. Coding can assist students with becoming better problem solvers.
- Coding prepares scholars for the technological advancements that are to come
- Logical and critical thinking skills are developed through coding activities
- Learning how to code will help students appreciate the way things work
